Pure bravery and braveness.

Vote for a Democrat

Democrats are a painful choice: legislative and presidential overreach at the federal level, support for destructive union-friendly policies, and dogmatic adherence to keynesian big public project recession spending. In California, the Democratic Party candidates for Senate and Governor are two career politicians who lack vigor and ambition for the well-being of our nation and state. Yet, with the exception of hopeless third parties, there is no other reasonable choice.

Even if you are a strong fiscal conservative, an adherent believer in American exceptionalism and a self-described ‘hawk’ worried about our nation’s safety from terrorism you should vote for a Democrat.

The Republican party is out of control.

On science topics such as evolution or climate change Republican candidates are frighteningly ignorant. They display little to no understanding of how science works. Many “tea party” candidates such as Sharron Angle, Christine O’Donnell, and Paul Rand believe in nonsense such a “young Earth” and show open disdain for erudition, as if an education where a black mark. California’s candidates Whitman and Fiorina are inclined to ignore science when it comes to the issue of climate change. It is irresponsible to vest in someone ignorant of basic science the responsibilities of public office.

Many Republican candidates are undereducated and show a deficiency in understanding nuance. The consequence is incompetence in governing.

Republican candidates display bigotry. All have taken positions against allowing any American to marry. Many make troubling statements about illegal immigrants, muslims and homosexuals. If you value human rights, fairness, and religious tolerance, voting for these individuals will trouble your conscience.

Intelligence and tolerance are fundamental qualities in a political candidate. They are minimum requirements. Republicans are an unacceptable choice.

Vote for a Democratic Party candidate. Do it if for nothing else other than to signal that you value candidates who are willing to represent all Americans and who believe in (and have an) education.
